The war in Ukraine leaves not only visible scars on the landscape, but also deep wounds on the souls of the most vulnerable. In the past year, we therefore became a proud partner of the Mriya rehabilitation centre in Mykolaiv – the only facility of its kind in southern Ukraine providing comprehensive care to children with physical injuries and psychological trauma caused by bombing or the loss of loved ones.
Every month, the Mriya centre helps dozens of children through a unique combination of therapies. Thanks to your contributions and the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, we were able to help modernize the premises, provide new equipment, and support programmes such as hippotherapy, canistherapy (with dogs rescued after the destruction of the Kakhovka dam), physiotherapy, and art therapy. The annual capacity of the centre increased to nearly 2,900 children, who find their way back to joy and health in a safe and calm environment. Although the need for help in the region still exceeds the centre’s capacities, your support gives children a chance for a childhood without pain and fear.
